TestSwarm-BrowserControl

To control TestSwarm clients (or for other testing tools), we need a cross-platform tool that can launch and maintain browsers on a (virtual) machine. It needs to detect crashed or hanged browser, or at least restart each one in certain intervals (especially IE).

 

Windows-Tools:

 

Existing (similar) tools:

  • Selenium (RC or Grid or both) handles launching browsers, but does a lot more then that.
  • Terminus, while intended as a driver for Capybara, might also be useful as a tool for controling browsers
  • Jellyfish, nodejs-based tool to launch browsers and execute code in them; no Windows support yet, but that should change with nodejs working on Windows
